UTORweb provides free, personal web space to students, faculty, and staff. Full details are available on the UTORweb website.
Below are instructions for uploading files from Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 applications using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). FTP is the only supported protocol for UTORweb.
PLEASE NOTE: FTP is an unsecured protocol. This means that any data sent, including your UTORid password, may be intercepted and viewed by third parties
Open the Save As Window
Office 2003
- Go to File > Save As
Office 2007
- Click the Office button and mouse over Save As.
- In the right panel of the Office menu select your preferred file format.
Add an FTP location
- Click to expand the Save in drop-down list.
- At the very bottom, click Add/Modify FTP Locations.
- Switch the Log on as option from Anonymous to User.
- Input the following information:
- Name of the FTP site: individual.utoronto.ca
- User: (your UTORid)
- Password: (your UTORid password)
- If a document is saved in the private folder which appears in the main folder of your account (i.e. the screen you see when you first connect to your account), it will only be accessible when you log in with your UTORid and password
- Anything saved outside of the private folder will be publicly accessible from the URL http://individual.utoronto.ca/Your UTORweb Space Name/Filename
Removing an FTP location
- Open the Save As window (see procedure above).
- Click to expand the Save in: drop down list.
- At the very bottom, click Add/Modify FTP Locations.
- In the listing for FTP sites: click the listing for individual.utoronto.ca.
- Click Remove, then OK, then Cancel.
