Description
Email for UofT alumni is offered through two mail systems:
Alumni UTmail+
Alumni UTmail+ is the alumni add-on to UTmail+ first introduced with the class of 2012. Once you graduate from UofT, you will be given an @alum.utoronto.ca address in addition to your @mail.utoronto.ca address. Messages sent to your student account will be forwarded to your alumni account for at least 2 years after graduation to allow you to alert your contacts
@alumni.utoronto
A Gmail hosted service offered to alumni who graduated before June of 2012. For more details, see @alumni.utoronto Service Overview.
Getting Alumni UTmail+
If you have a UTmail+ account and graduated any time after June of 2012 your firstname.lastname@alum.utoronto.ca was created automatically. All email sent to this address will be automatically deposited into your UTmail+ inbox. See below for information on accessing this mailbox. If you have not activated your UTmail+ account, or the @alum.utoronto.ca address was not created, contact the Help Desk to verify eligibility and have it created.
UTmail+ for Mobile and Tablet Devices
Note: The instructions below help you set up your device or application using Microsoft Exchange, or IMAP. We do not recommend or support using POP to retrieve your email.

- iOS 6 — Synchronize Email, Calendar, and Contacts — Using Exchange Activesync you can synchronize your UTmail+ messages, calendard, and contacts with your mobile device.
- iOS 5 — Synchronize Email, Calendar, and Contacts — Using Exchange Activesync you can synchronize your UTmail+ messages, calendard, and contacts with your mobile device.
- Show more Messages on your Device — Instructions to customize how many messages your device will download from the server.

- Synchronize Email, Calendar, and Contacts — Using Exchange Activesync you can synchronize your UTmail+ messages, calendars, and contacts with your mobile device.

- Synchronize Email, Calendar, and Contact on BlackBerry 10— Using Exchange ActiveSync you can synchronize your mail messages, calendar and contacts
- Synchronize Mail Only on BlackBerry 6— Using IMAP you can synchronize your mail messages. Calendar and contacts synchronization is not available on a Blackberry.

UTmail+ for Desktop Clients
Setup for Windows Clients
Outlook 2013 (Exchange) — Outlook 2013 is the email client included with the Microsoft Office 2013 suite for Windows. This article will walk you through configuring Outlook 2013 for UTmail+.
Outlook 2010/2007 (Exchange) — Outlook is the email client included with the Microsoft Office productivity suite for Windows. This article will walk you through configuring Outlook 2010/2007 for UTmail+.
Outlook 2007 (IMAP) — Outlook 2007 users who have already configured an Exchange account in Outlook will want to add UTmail+ as an IMAP account to access both simultaneously. Note that for most users, the above (Exchange) setup instructions are preferred.
Thunderbird 24 — Thunderbird 24 is the email client released for free by Mozilla. This article will walk you through configuring Thunderbird on Windows for UTmail+.
Setup for Mac Clients
Apple Mail 4/6 — Apple Mail 4 is the email client included with the Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system and Apple Mail 6 is the email client included with the Mac OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion operating system. This article will walk you through configuring Apple Mail 4 and 6 for UTmail+.
Apple Mail 3 — Apple Mail 3 is the email client included with the Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard operating system. This article will walk you through configuring Apple Mail 3 for UTmail+.
Thunderbird 24 — Thunderbird 24 is the email client released for free by Mozilla. This article will walk you through configuring Thunderbird on Mac OSX for UTmail+.
Outlook 2011 — Outlook 2011 is the email client included with the Microsoft Office 2011 productivity suite for Max OSX. This article will walk you through configuring Outlook 2011 for UTmail+.
General Information
Sending As @alum.utoronto.ca
Until October of the new school year, your default "from" email address will be your @mail.utoronto.ca account. The new address may be used earlier if you are using a mobile device, or desktop email program. To check the current status of your email account's from address, use the UTORid Get Information tool .
